CREDENTIALS

  • Thursday, July 10 – Monday, July 14:
  • 6:30am – 2:30pm; 2:00pm – 10pm
  • Location: ICG Operations Center at University of San Francisco (University of San Francisco, UC222)

Volunteers will assist with the accreditation of athletes, delegations, VIP’s, media and volunteers.  Some computer knowledge is required.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

CREDENTIAL MONITORS

  • Thursday, July 10: Practice
    • 12:30pm – 5pm
  • Friday, July 11 – Sunday, July 13: Practice & Competition
    • 7:30am – 5pm: Most sports
    • 7:30am – 2pm; 2pm – 8pm: Basketball
    • 4pm – 9pm: Opening Ceremonies
  • Monday, July 14
    • 8am – 1pm : Soccer and Volleyball
    • 12:30pm – 4:30: Basketball
  • Locations: All sports venues, VIP events, and ceremony events

Volunteers in this area will be part of the security committee and will monitor various checkpoints.   Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

FOOD SERVICES

  • Friday, July 11 – Monday, July 14:
  • Time: 10:30am – 2:30pm
  • Location: Kezar Stadium, Kezar Pavilion, Golden Gate Park Tennis Court, and Harding Park

Volunteers will assist in the preparation and/or distribution of food and beverages to athletes, crews, and volunteers. Also, volunteers will check on various sites to determine needs to be replenished.   Youths over 14 years of age can volunteer for this event.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

GREETERS/DELEGATION CHAPERONES (LIAISONS)

  • Team arrival date (TBD) sometime between Monday, July 7 – Thursday, July 10
  • Friday, July 11 – Monday, July 14:
  • Full day commitment (Average estimation 7am -5pm)
  • Locations:  San Francisco State University, or University of San Francisco, and traveling with the delegations during sporting events

Volunteers will be assigned to a delegation and will assist the delegates with their daily activities, schedule, and transportation throughout the day. These individuals need to have general knowledge of the city and need to be available from arrival of the delegations on July 7 to July 14.  It is a plus if chaperones and greeters are able to speak the native language of their delegation.   Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above).  Also, interpreters are requested to greet their city delegation upon arrival (Date and Time TBD)

 

HOSPITALITY

  • Friday, July 11: 4pm – 6:30pm; Location @ Kezar Stadium (Opening Ceremonies)
  • Saturday, July 12: 9:30pm – 1am; Location @ San Francisco State University (VIP)
  • Monday, July 14: 6:30pm – 12am; Location @ Cross Roads Café (VIP)
  • Monday, July 14: 8:30pm – 11:30am; Location @ War Memorial Gym (Athlete’s Dance)

Certain VIP events will take place during the games. Volunteer staff will be needed to help with serving food and drinks, and fulfill other hospitality responsibilities. (MUST BE 21 or older for this position except for Athlete’s Dance)  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

IT SUPPORT

  • Thursday, July 10 – Monday, July 14:
  • 6:30am – 2:30pm; 2:00pm – 10:00pm;
  • Location: Operations Center at University of San Francisco (UC222)

Volunteers must have general IT knowledge and move to various sites experiencing IT issues as they arise.   Youths over 14 years of age can volunteer for this event.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

INFORMATION (24 hours a day)

  • Monday, July 7 – Wednesday, July 9
    • 9am – 1pm; or 1pm -5pm
  • Starting July 10 the Information Tables will be run 24 hours & non-stop until Tuesday at 8pm.
    • 6pm -12 midnight; Midnight – 6am; 6am – 12noon; 12noon – 6pm; or 6pm – midnight
  • Locations: University of San Francisco (exact location TBD) and San Francisco State University (exact location TBD)

Volunteers will be posted at the housing areas at San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco to dispense information about the 42nd International Children’s Games, the City and the Bay Area. Volunteers in this area will need great people skills and knowledge of the city and the event. Volunteers in this area should be comfortable with computers, the Internet and communication.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

INTERPRETERS

  • Team arrival date (TBD) sometime between Monday, July 7 – Thursday, July 10
  • Friday, July 11 – Monday, July 14:

  • Locations:  San Francisco State University, or University of San Francisco, and traveling with the delegations during sporting events

Volunteers will be assigned to a delegation and will assist the delegates with their daily activities, schedule, and transportation throughout the day. These individuals need to be available from arrival of the delegations on July 7 to July 14.  Foreign languages skills are required.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above).  Also, interpreters are requested to greet their city delegation upon arrival (Date and Time TBD)

Note: Translators will be needed for the following languages:  Arabic, Cantonese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Greenlandic, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian (Magyar), Icelandic, Irish, Italian, Kamba, Khalkha Mongol (Mongolian), Korean, Lithuanian, Luxembourgish, Mandarin, Polish, Romana, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Tagalog, Thai, Twi, Ukranian, Urdu, and Vietnamese. 

 

LABOR CREW

  • Thursday, July 10; 3pm – 5pm @ Kezar Pavilion (Table Tennis set up)
  • Friday, July 11; 8am – 4pm @ Kezar Stadium (Opening Ceremony)

Volunteers will support the Opening Ceremony and sports venue for set-up and breakdown of venues, movement of particular items from one venue to another or any other Operations tasks.  Youths over 14 years of age can volunteer for this event.  Must be able to lift 10 lbs.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

MEDIA CENTER

  • Friday, July 11 – Monday, July 14:
  • 7:30am – 1:00am; 12:30am – 5pm
  • Location: TBD

Volunteers will be stationed in the media room and will assist with any questions/special requests. General computer knowledge is needed.   Youths over 14 years of age can volunteer for this event.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

OFFICE SERVICES

  • Thursday, July 10 – Monday, July 14:
  • 6:30am – 2:30pm; 2:00pm – 10pm

Volunteers will assist with the operation of the event by staffing various Operations Centers during the event. General office skills and some computer knowledge are helpful.  Youths over 14 years of age can volunteer for this event.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

REGISTRATION

Volunteers will check in team members prior to their games.  They will also assist in the preparation and distribution of official packets for the athletes, delegates, media representatives, and other attendees.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

RUNNER

  • Friday, July 11 – Monday, July 14:
  • 8am – 12:30pm or 12:30pm to 5pm
  • Location: TBD

Volunteers will assist staff, athletes, and delegations with last minute “must-haves.”  Youths over 14 years of age can volunteer for this event.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above)

 

SECURITY

  • Saturday, July 12 – Sunday, July 13
    • 7:30am – 10:30pm: or 3pm – 6pm @ Street flow (Location TBD)
  • Saturday, July 12:

o   8am – 12:30pm: or 12:30pm – 5pm @ Street flow (Location TBD)

 Volunteers will have some experience in event security and will be stationed at various venues involving the games.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above).

 

SPORTS

  • Thursday, July 10: Practice

Volunteers will assist a specific sport in various roles including but not limited to timing, scoring, check-in desk, and scheduling.  Youths over 14 years of age can volunteer for this event.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above).

 

TICKET SALES

  • Thursday, July 10 – Monday, July 14:
  • 8am – 1pm; or 1pm – 6pm
  • Location: University of San Francisco @ the War Memorial Ticketing Office

Volunteers will assist with the sale of event tickets at various locations during the event.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above).

 

TICKET TAKER

Friday, July 11 – Monday, July 14:

8am – 12:30pm or 12:30pm to 5pm

Locations: Various sporting venues (Exact location TBD)

Volunteers will collect tickets at the various venues during the event.  Youths over 14 years of age can volunteer for this event.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above).

 

TRANSPORTATION

  • Monday, July 7 – Wednesday, July 9: Time TBD
    • Locations: USF and SFSU shuttle drop off
  • Thursday, July 10 – Monday, July 14: 8am to 6:30pm
    • Locations: Kezar Stadium, University of San Francisco, San Francisco State University
    • Tuesday, July 15 – Friday, July 18: TBD

Volunteers will direct people to the correct buses for departure from sites and to the event upon arrival at sites.  Mandatory orientation required to attend two weeks before the event (see above).
